The NIGP-CPP certification program is not currently offering remote/online proctoring for one key reason: a lack of standards which places the integrity and validity of the examination process at risk.
The certification industry has not yet established standards for remote/online proctoring; however, this work is in process. This effort is being led by the Association of Test Publishers in partnership with the National College Testing Association. Once the certification industry has established standards for remote/online proctoring and these standards are adopted by leaders in the industry (The American National Standards Institute [ANSI] and others), the NIGP Certification Commission will be in a better position to determine if remote/online proctoring will be implemented for NIGP-CPP certification.
Accreditation through ANSI’s National Accreditation Board (ANAB) is the gold standard for all certification programs. This recognition is the compelling reason why the NIGP-CPP certification program has been developed following all ANSI ISO 17024 standards necessary for the operation of certification bodies. The NIGP-CPP certification program will be seeking accreditation through ANAB within the next year.
