NIGP is excited to announce a new partnership with Lourdes Coss who will facilitate the Leaders Edge program. Lourdes brings over 20 years of hands-on leadership experience, paired with expertise in supplier relationships and leadership. Throughout her career, Lourdes has been leading procurement transformations at some of the largest agencies in the U.S. including: City of Houston, Cook County, City of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, and the Public Building Commission. In addition to developing high performing teams, Lourdes has left a legacy of innovation, automation, legislative action, and administrative & financial policies in each of these agencies. In her role on the NIGP Leadership Development Committee, she has closely worked with the Leaders Edge program since its inception.
Despite the challenges and unknown obstacles that arose during the program (COVID, quarantine, work from home, ... the ever-changing world), I felt reassured to know that I was surrounded (even if virtually) by a group of people who I could turn to for questions, ideas, answers, and support while we were each experiencing changes within our world and work environment. Leader’s Edge was (is) a constant additional resource that adds a value beyond traditional networking at seminars or similar events.

This program exceeded my expectations! Not only did I learn more about leadership from the instructors, but I also learned form amazing procurement professionals. It was an amazing experience, and I am so thankful to NIGP, the instructors, and each procurement professional in the class, that I was able to be part of this program.

I think my biggest take-away was being able to step back and analyze my daily interactions, both professional and personal, and actively take steps to improve communication. I am now much better prepared to identify which aspects of my personality impact my communication style.

The Leader's Edge program has been an impactful experience, especially in the face of a global pandemic. The opportunity to discuss changing leadership approaches while moving entirely to teleworking and the urgent purchasing and contracting needs we were each facing was incredibly helpful.
